Residents of La Cala de Mijas have collected over 3,600 signatures on a petition calling for the Junta de Andalucía to provide 24-hour A&E coverage at the local health centre, which is currently open only until 2.30pm. The activists say that for after-hours A&E needs, residents must travel to health centres in Las Lagunas or Fuengirola.
