A NEW pressure group has been launched to protest against plans for an 18-hole golf course and 640 houses to be constructed on land between Nerja and Maro. The site of almost 250 hectares, where the remains of the old sugar factory stand, is owned by the Sociedad Azucarera Larios S. A. (Salsa).
Salsa signed an agreement with Nerja town hall in 2015 for a series of modifications to the municipality’s town planning regulations which would reclassify almost two million square metres of the site for the project. It is understood that this is being processed by the regional government.
