TWENTY people have been arrested and more than 600 kilos of hashish seized in the break-up of a gang that smuggled hashish from Morocco to the Costa in covert night-time helicopter flights, said Guardia Civil officials last week.

Arrests were made in Cádiz, Málaga and Sevilla provinces after Guardia Civil officers intercepted a helicopter as it was flying low and with no lights over the sea from Morocco to a rural area of Cádiz.

A Guardia Civil helicopter located the suspect aircraft mid-flight, then followed it to a property in the Los Alcornocales natural park before moving in as the drugs were being unloaded from the chopper, said officials.
