Farmers have reported a wave of thefts in the citrus orchards of the Guadalhorce valley, where the lemon harvest is in full swing.

The Asaja farmers’ association last week said it had provided the Guardia Civil with information from its members that it hopes will help the authorities stamp out the “bands of thieves” who have been robbing “kilos and kilos of lemons” in the zone. It said in the past this “close collaboration has on many occasions achieved the desired results with the arrest of the thieves and the recovery of the stolen goods”.
