This spring, walking aficionados will once again have access to a series of free guided hikes on the Gran Senda de Málaga trail, announced the Diputacion de Málaga last week.

This year’s programme includes five routes of varying length and degree of difficulty, all led by expert guides. Each takes in a different stretch of the 650-kilomtre Grand Senda, with hikes ranging from 6.5 to 18.5 kilometres.

New this year is an overnight trip that will take walkers from Alfarnate to Villavueva del Rosario (15.4 km), where they will stay at a hostel before trekking another 18.5 km to Archidona the following day.

Another new addition is a ‘botanical route’ – a 6.5-km low-difficulty walk at Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja, with a guide offering explanations of the botanical species in the zone.
