The Costa del Golf – taking in the zone from Nerja on the far east of Málaga province to Sotogrande just across the border in Cádiz province – boasts four of the top 10 courses in all of Spain and more than a quarter of the top 100, according to a list compiled by the website top100golfcourses.co.uk.

While the number-one spot goes to the Stadium course at PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona, the Costa scored both second and third place, with Real Sotogrande and Real Valderrama, respectively. Both of the courses were originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, and Valderrama is the only course outside of the UK or the United States to have hosted a Ryder Cup.
