Richard Branson, never a man to stand still for very long has unveiled a prototype supersonic passenger aircraft capable of whisking passengers from London to New York in about 3.5 hours. That’s about the time it takes to get anywhere on the London Underground during rush hour.
The Virgin boss says return flights will be an ‘affordable’ $5,000. Well, I guess if you’re a billionaire business guru that amount is affordable, but less so if you are a writer who is feeding a coffee and biscuit addiction.
All being well, commercial flights will start in 2023, which gives me lots of time to save up. Or if the value of the pound continues to plummet faster than an elephant off a diving board, tickets will be as cheap as confetti by then.
