Leave Prince George Alone

A child cannot help the family it is born into, rich or poor

I’m no fan of the royal family, but the British Council boss who attacked 3-year-old Prince George for his life of privilege was way out of line. Angela Gibbins, head of global estates at the charity, is reported to have written on social media: “White privilege. That cheeky grin is the innate knowledge he’s royal, rich, advantaged and will never know any difficulties or hardships in life.”
Of course she is entitled to her view, which was expressed on a private social media account, but she gave her two-penneth in the full knowledge that the young prince is certainly not aware of exactly what he has been born into.
Her miserable rant went on to say: “Let’s find 3yo Syrian refugee children, and see if they look alike, eh?” What a nasty and utterly disingenuous comparison to make. A child cannot help the family it is born into, rich or poor. Attacking the young prince to get her republican views across was pathetic and vile.
Her employer’s purpose is to represent Britain abroad, and our Head of State is the Queen. She also happens to be the patron of the British Council. If Gibbins is such a staunch republican, she should resign from her £80k a year post and go and do something else instead.
