New manager for Spain – two days hours before first match

The shocking dismissal of Spanish national team manager Julen Lopetegui – whom the Spanish football federation chairman has not forgiven for announcing he is joining Real Madrid next season – left the squad without anyone at the helm for several hours on Wednesday. In the afternoon it was announced Fernando Hierro will be taking over just 48 hours before Spain face their first group stage match against Portugal on Friday at 20.00 in Sochi.
