EU plan to reduce energy bills

Revenue generated by windfall taxes on energy companies would be ‘used to help consumers reduce their bills’, according to a plan published on Wednesday for European governments.

The European Commission (EC) measures to tackle ‘dramatic price rises’ include raising more than €140 billion from energy firms ‘with abnormally high profits’ which will be directed ‘towards their struggling customers’.
