Government outlines action to save the Mar Menor

The battle continues to save the fragile ecosystem of the Mar Menor from lack of oxygen in the water caused by pollution from fertilisers and sewage.

Environment secretary Hugo Morán said the government’s priority is to ‘stop the degradation caused by two decades of bad practices in farming, mining and town planning’ – recovery plans have been assigned a total budget of €500 million up to 2027.
