A 61-year-old Dutch paddleboarder was rescued by the Guardia Civil’s Río Ladra patrol boat on Wednesday around 500 metres off the coast of Guardamar del Segura.

A force spokesman noted that she had been ‘surprised’ by the westerly wind which blew her out to sea.
