NEWS Staff Reporter

Roquetas de Mar residents gathered earlier this month to remember the two young women who were murdered in the recent terrorist attack in Marseille.

The victims, cousins Mauranne and Laura, were stabbed to death by a Tunisian man outside Marseille’s Saint-Charles train station on October 1. The assailant, 29-year-old Ahmed Hanachi, was shot at the scene by French soldiers.

It has emerged that Mauranne, a 20-year-old medical student from Marseille, was the niece of local man Cédric Ponchon, according to a statement released by the local council.
