A 52-YEAR-old man has died in a fire at a rural home in Alfaz del Pi.
The blaze broke out in the villa at around 14.00 on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the provincial fire service explained that the fire started in the kitchen of the property situated on Camí Foia Brell in the Partida la Carbonera.
According to state news agency EFE, the 12-year-old daughter of the victim was able to escape from the villa and raise the alarm.
A local police officer who tried to rescue the victim had to be treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
