A local police officer used his uniform shirt to wrap a baby girl he helped deliver at the side of a road in Benidorm.

The emergency delivery ended successfully, with both mother and baby in good health.

State news agency EFE reported that this impromptu birth took place shortly before 09.00 on Tuesday on the grass of a roundabout between Calle Paris and Calle Peking, on the edge of the Rincón de Loix.

A 31-year-old Spanish woman, in her 36th week of pregnancy, began to have contractions that made it impossible for her to move.
