Is the future orange?

THE plight faced by orange farmers throughout the Valencia region seems to have finally got through to the powers-that-be.
Director general for commerce, Natxo Costa, this week expressed his ‘consternation’ for the situation whereby oranges are being sold at a loss to farmers.
This has been an ongoing complaint on behalf of producers for several years, prompting the department chief to finally take action.
Sr Costa revealed that he plans to investigate the case and ascertain the existence of any possible illicit behaviour.
