Jávea Arenal beach ‘safe’, says town hall

A faulty outlet pipe off Jávea’s shores which has generated a social media furore is now fixed, and latest sea water tests show no sign of harmful bacteria.

The blocked pipe, which runs underground from the water treatment plant and flows into the sea around a kilometre from the beach, was flagged up as an ‘emergency’ on May 25, although work did not start until June.
