Parents in the small village of Cariatiz have been fighting a battle on two fronts since the school term started last week.

Children who were supposed to start at the village primary school CPR Lusor last Tuesday have been kept out of school by their parents in protest at the state of the building.

Meanwhile, children attending the secondary school in Sorbas, some 10 kilometres and a 15- minute drive away, are boycotting the school bus after its route was changed to pass through other outlying villages, taking around an hour to reach the school.  The younger children have spent the week playing in the village square which doubles as the school playground .
