Government drones are photographing homes to find undeclared improvements to tax

The national government has been busy surveying homes across the nation using aerial drones – and Almería is the province which has so far accumulated the greatest number of fines for undeclared extensions.

If an undeclared improvement such as a swimming pool, out-building, garden extension or new roof-top terrace is spotted, the property owner is fined €60 to have their file updated, and will see their property tax (IBI) increased by the appropriate amount.
