A poet who recently posted an image of her new book ‘El Dedo’ (‘The Finger’) – a collection of writings on female masturbation – on her personal Facebook page, had her account de-activated minutes later, sparking a public outcry.
Luna Miguel, a 26-year-old writer who was born in Madrid but brought up in Almería, was censored by Facebook which closed down her account of eight years, resulting in the loss of all posts and photos and with no right of appeal, for “not complying with regulations”.
The account remained closed for five days, until Wednesday this week, when suddenly, with no notification to Ms Miguel, it was reinstated.
Posting on her blog, Ms Miguel said: “Suddenly, just for talking about masturbation, I turned into a dangerous person.”
