The Guardia Civil have charged a man with animal cruelty offences after officers discovered four dogs which had been starved to death at a farm in Bayárcal.

The incident happened last month in the neighbourhood of El Higueral, in the west of the province.

A fifth dog was found alive, but was also reduced to just skin and bones. He was taken to the La Huella Roja animal welfare association in Almería for treatment.
