The regional health service has announced a new €4 million investment into cancer treatment at Almería’s Torrecárdenas hospital amid new official figures that show the disease is the main cause of death in the province.
The funding is part of a €40 million grant from the Amancio Ortega charitable trust to the Andalucían health service for new cancer treatment equipment.
The money will mostly be spent on linear accelerators (known as Linacs), the machines most commonly used for radiation treatment.
