July was the busiest for several years for the hotels of the province as 216,383 tourists visited the province – an increase of 7.6 per cent over last year’s figures, according to the latest official data.
Visitors also stayed for longer this year, as average visitor stays increased by six per cent.
Tourism chief Antonio Valdivia said: “These figures show that we have come out of the recession and our tourism industry is booming. Over June and July almost 1.6 million hotel nights were used by tourists.”
