Brit determined to clean-up Europe’s only desert

Expat accuses Tabernas council of indifference as fly-tips clog ramblas

Eight people helped Julian Phillips to remove about a tonne-and-a-half of rubbish in Tabernas last weekend

A British expat is on a mission to clean up one of Almería’s most emblematic landscapes – the Tabernas desert.

Julian Phillips, a 46-year-old teacher, says the area is being used as a rubbish dump and has accused the local council of turning a blind eye to the problem.
