Almería, Carboneras and Roquetas de Mar are the three towns with the wealthiest inhabitants, according to statistics from the national Tax Agency (AEAT).

The agency has published the results of its 2013 personal income tax campaign, showing the average income declared by residents of the 51 richest towns in the province.

Costa Almería News correlated this table with the list of towns with the greatest number of British residents – Arboleas, Mojacar, Albox and Zurgena. Arboleas ranks 48 on the rich list, although Mojacar is in at number eight. Albox and Zurgena rank 18 and 38, respectively.

Only three popular expat towns are in the top 10 rich list aside from Mojacar – Huércal-Overa (10), Vera (six) and Roquetas de Mar (four).
