Spam - Part 1

‘Spamming' is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages.  While the most widely recognised form of spam is email spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam and junk fax transmissions.

Others think that cookies pose some kind of risk - and they do, but the risk is not what most people think it is and this is actually a very dangerous piece of misinformation for businesses.

Spyware is a term that can have more than one meaning. It often refers to software that tracks your Web surfing habits for marketing purposes. Many legitimate companies use a form of spyware, known as adware, for this entirely commercial purpose.
