The national government has moved to stymie a regional Partido Popular (PP) initiative to reduce taxes for the wealthy.
Minister for the treasury María Jesús Montero announced that they are working on a temporary tax directed at ‘very wealthy’ residents living in Spain – it would be a solidarity charge to help out in the economic crisis.
