Murcia region has been placed on red alert for heat today (Monday) meaning the temperatures represent a threat to human life.
Maximums of 45°C could be recorded, according to state weather agency AEMET.
In nearby Orihuela city the mercury could hit 44°C, they note.
The south of Alicante province is on orange alert for heat today.
