This year’s voluntary overtime plan for health workers in order to reduce waiting lists has been approved by the regional government for a sum of €25 million.

The aim of the ‘Autoconcierto’ plan is to use the public health system’s own resources by enabling professionals to choose whether they work more than their usual hours.

It offers them additional pay as an incentive, in the form of productivity bonuses for participating in special programmes at other times.

This year the plan adds new surgical procedures and techniques which can be covered by the overtime scheme, principally the possibility of extending scheduled care activity over ordinary shift hours on Saturdays.
