Helping gender violence victims

MOTHERS who have been victims of gender violence and have sole custody of their children will legally have the status of single-parent families as of August, thus being eligible for certain benefits that they could not access before.
The change will be implemented across the Valencia region, in order to qualify mother’s will have to submit a protective court order, a ministerial report confirming that there is evidence that the mother was the victim of mistreatment, or a certificate from a specialised attention centre.
Once one of these documents is submitted and approved, the mother and her children will have the single-parent family status for five years.
