Pedestrian safety fears in Roquetas

The death of an elderly woman run over in Roquetas de Mar earlier this month has sparked calls for an investigation into pedestrian safety in the city.

The 82-year-old victim was admitted to the Poniente hospital on March 3 after being run over at a pedestrian crossing close to the main Carlos III avenue – a known traffic black spot.

However, she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday (March 12). It was also the second serious pedestrian-related accident in Roquetas since the start of the year.
