Much loved bar owner Tito del Amo dies

Californian who led first wave of expats to Almería came to embody Mojacar's 1960s bohemian lifestyle

Mojacar bar owner Tito del Amo has died at the age of 74 after a short battle with cancer.

More than 100 people attended a memorial service at his bar last Saturday to pay tribute to a man widely regarded as one of Mojacar’s most endearing characters.

US-born del Amo was one of the first immigrants to settle in Mojacar in the 1960s and came to embody the resort’s carefree, hippy lifestyle.
