A Turre resident has been quietly cleaning up after fly tippers who have been dumping household refuse next to mountain roads.

Well known local quiz master and sports historian Tony Matthews started his campaign with other local residents more than four years ago. His team would give the alert when spotting rubbish and act to tidy up the countryside wherever possible. On one weekend in 2011 more than 300 people turned out for a mountain clean-up.

The initiative slowly died out but now the tippers are back Mr Matthews has vowed to crack down again.
