Investigation into sea turtle deaths

A meeting was held with an official from the Spanish institute of oceanography

Marine rescue group Equinac is to work with the ministry of the environment to investigate the increasing number of sea-turtle strandings in the province.

Group coordinator Eva Morón contacted the ministry earlier this month to report the number of incidents dealt with by the group’s volunteers on an almost daily basis during July and August.

Equinac confirmed that this year to date there have been twice the number of turtle strandings than in the whole of 2015, and in the case of dolphins, an increase of three.
