Garrucha’s new health centre is failing in patient care due to a shortage of doctors during peak hours, an association has claimed.
The extension to the centre was inaugurated last November after lengthy delays and at a cost of €693,000. Boasting two floors and 15 rooms, it is double the size of the adjoining old surgery building.
But critics say there is only one doctor available from 3pm onwards and during public holidays. In addition, the building remains half finished, and that during the recent heavy rains the poor quality of construction work was in evidence when the new building sprung numerous leaks.
