A Moroccan man on the run from the Belgian authorities for the attempted homicide of his ex-wife has been arrested in Carboneras.
The 31-year-old man, identified only by his initials W.M., had been staying in the fishing village since fleeing the country immediately after the attack in the Belgian seaside town of Koksijde on October 2.
The man allegedly stabbed his former partner up to 18 times, leaving her in a critical condition.
But despite suffering severe injuries to her stomach and lungs, the victim survived the attack and was able to tell police she had been stabbed by her ex-husband following a row over their four children and an impending court appearance.
