Essential infrastructure damaged by the devastating 2012 floods have yet to be repaired, local authorities are claiming.
Councillors from towns across the east of Almería have taken the opportunity to remind the regional government that there “is still much to be done” to make good the damage and that steps must be taken to prevent future floods from causing so much damage.
The C’s party of Cuevas del Almanzora issued a list of pending repairs that are still waiting for money to arrive from the Junta de Andalucía and national government. The list includes infrastructure such as the Los Lobos urban centre pedestrian bridge, flood defences along the La Mulería river, repairs to the desalination plant – which has been off-line since the floods- and the local sewage works.
