The expat owners of a resort in Vélez-Rubio have been denounced by the police for running an “undercover hotel”, as well as offering “unlicensed motorcross routes which caused severe environmental damage to the surrounding area”.

The owners, one of whom is understood to be British, have been charged with a total of 13 offences.

Seprona environmental police first investigated after detecting a large number of organised off road motorbike (motorcross) excursions in the hills around Vélez-Rubio.

Their investigations led them to a tourism complex outside the town, which was advertising itself on the internet as a destination for British, French and German motorcross enthusiasts.
