The Spanish navy has recovered the bodies of a 10-year-old girl and a man who drowned while attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea in a bid to reach the coast of Almería.
Another woman was rescued from the sea by helicopter but died before reaching hospital. A further 30 north African migrants were rescued safely from their boat.
The body of the girl was discovered entangled under the craft, while the body of the man was located by the Infanta Cristina patrol boat which was searching for survivors.
