New EU travel checks to come in next year

The European Union’s new travel authorisation system, ETIAS is now expected to be in place by the end of next year.

A press release from the European Commission (EC) notes that citizens of ‘all visa-exempt countries outside the European Union will be required to complete an ETIAS application before their trip to the Schengen Area’.

It is expected that UK residents will have to go through the process.
