A donation of six tonnes of coffee seized in a National Police drug operation, which arrested six Britons, has been made to El Segura food bank in Murcia.

The suspects had hidden 137 kilos of marijuana among the cases of coffee, which they intended to send to Holland, according to Caridad Rives, the national government’s representative in the region.

The drugs were estimated to have a street value of approximately €2.5 million.
“The constant and discreet work of the National Police reaps brilliant results like this operation, which also gives us the satisfaction of being able to hand over six tonnes of coffee for distribution among the most disadvantaged people, a product which, due to its high price, is not among the basic foods which the food bank can distribute,” she said.
