A FIVE-year-old boy has died after being struck by stray fireworks in a Granada town. Sunday’s tragedy came during a fiesta in Montillana, 50 kilometres north of the capital.

Witnesses said one rogue firework hit a bag containing other projectiles which exploded. The emergency services said the boy died almost immediately from injuries he received from the “strong impact”. A post-mortem was ordered to establish the precise cause of death.
