On the subject of ABC facial recognition system at Alicante Airport l noted that Spanish nationals do not have to use this facility. Could someone tell me why?

When passengers arrive at the ABC gates, indeed Spaniards are told to go through the ‘old’ channel, i.e. wave your passport at the Nat Police officer. It is possible that they are arriving from domestic flights or because they are travelling with their DNI cards instead of their passports. We are going to look into this.
