THE Partido Popular in Mijas has called for the town’s old El Barrio quarry to be converted for use as a refuge for abandoned animals, as well as stables for Mijas Pueblo’s famous burro-taxi donkeys.
“The current stables, which are in the town centre where people live, don’t have the necessary sanitary conditions for the animals to be there,” said lead PP councillor and former mayor Ángel Nozal.
