THE FIRST big trial in the Gürtel corruption scandal – which hit the Partido Popular (PP) on a national level and in the Valencia region – has ended with prison sentences of up to 13 years for the businessmen and politicians involved.
Judges found 11 of the 13 defendants guilty of rigging public contracts for the FITUR tourism trade fair.
