The abandoned dog rescued in Chirivel was little more than skin and bones

A dog owner in Sorbas has been charged with cruelty to animals after the Guardia Civil found seven dogs being kept in appalling conditions.

One of the dogs was in such poor health that it had to be put down.

Guardia Civil agents visited the rural property near Sorbas after being alerted by a concerned neighbour. They found a 50-square metre fenced kennel compound in which large dogs were chained up all suffering from malnutrition and dehydration.

In a separate incident in Chirivel this week the Guardia rescued an abandoned Argentine Mastiff that was found wandering around the El Pinar area in a deplorable state of malnutrition.
