A 46-year-old Colombian man arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife in Aguadulce at the weekend was later found hanged in his cell.
The attack on the 43-year-old woman happened on Saturday morning (November 17) at the couple’s home.
The victim, also Colombian, was rushed to Torrecárdenas hospital where she underwent an operation for severe injuries, although these were not life-threatening.
However, the attacker was also admitted to hospital, in his case El Poniente in El Ejido, after inflicting a minor knife injury on himself, the authorities said.
On being released from hospital he was arrested later that morning. According to a Guardia source consulted by this paper, the suspect hanged himself with the pyjama bottoms he had been wearing since being released from hospital.
