Antas looks set to get a new treatment plant after years of complaints of raw sewage outfall following destruction of the original facility in the 2012 floods.

This week the regional government announced it had awarded the contract for the design and construction of a new system costing around €3.2 million, although no timescale for completion was given.

The new (Edar) plant will be located in the Los Llanos del Mayor area and will be capable of serving more than 6,000 residents.
