The province is experiencing a boom year in tourism after independent figures revealed soaring visitor numbers.
According to data from the Spanish airports authority, Aena, Almería airport last month saw a 32.5 per cent increase in passenger numbers (totalling 118,562) compared to the same period last year, due mostly to international traffic.
Separate figures for the month of June from the international institute of statistics (INE) also show that foreign tourists spent €7.8 billion while in Spain – up by 12.7 per cent compared to the same period last year. British tourists topped the list, accounting for almost a quarter of all the money that was spent by foreign visitors.
