Roquetas de Mar mayor Gabriel Amat is once again facing calls to resign after a National Police investigation into further nepotism claims was revealed this week.

The police report, carried out as part of a four-year ongoing investigation into Amat led by a Roquetas court, linked building licences for around 845 properties to companies involving Amat family members between 2000 and 2008.

Just two months ago it emerged that Amat, who belongs to the right-wing Partido Popular, was to be investigated over his alleged involvement in awarding contracts worth €1.2m to firms linked to his son-in-law between 2008 and 2014.
